Who’s Standing by You?

You’ve probably seen the same ads the last few weeks that I have for the movie Made of Honor: a man is asked by his best friend, a woman, to be her “maid of honor.” It got me thinking: would you ever ask a guy friend or relative to stand for you? Or, would your fiance ask a female friend or relative to stand for him?

There’s no “rule” that all of the bride’s attendants have to be female or a guy’s attendants male. You can coordinate dress colors with tuxedo vests and ties (which you’re probably already doing) and boutonnieres to make your “maid” match the other bridesmaids and your “groomsman” coordinate with the men. What’s most important when you choose your bridal party is that the people standing with you are important to you and will support you.
