Spend any time browsing wedding magazines or wedding boards on Pinterest, and you’ll run across the ombre trend. “Ombre” is a French term meaning shaded that refers to colors in the same tone gradually fading one into the other, from light to dark. It’s been popular as a hair trend – dark roots that gradually shade to light ends – but now it has hit weddings. There are several fun ways to use ombre in your wedding day décor, but our advice is to choose one or two for maximum impact. Too much of a good thing is, well, too much.
Some places you might use ombre:
- Wedding cake
- Table runners and linens
- Flower arrangements
Another bit of advice? Choose dark, saturated colors. For example, your ombre will be more noticeable if it fades from fuchsia to light pink to white than if it starts at light pink and fades to white. We’ve seen amazing examples of ombre in blue, turquoise, purple, red, and fuchsia.
