"Thank
you Rebecca & Ryan for sharing your Real Southern Maryland Wedding
with us!."
--Kimberly Bean SoMdWeddings.com

| Advice
from the Bride:
Relax!
Take a few moments every so often to just take it all in.
Look around and ‘make a memory.’ The day will
fly by, you cannot control that, so be sure to try and enjoy
every moment. If you are happy and having fun, your guests
will do the same.
Did
you use SoMdWeddings.com or our magazine to help with your
planning?

Tell
us your love story:
On Rebecca’s birthday of 2001 she was taken to a rugby
party at Rebecca and Ryan’s college to celebrate. It
was there that Ryan and Rebecca first met. Rebecca swears
she knew right away that he was ‘the one’, but
Ryan swears she didn’t even remember the first time
they met.
Tell
us the story of how you got engaged:
Ryan is the president of a rugby club out of Northern Virginia
(Western Suburbs Rugby Football Club) and every year the club
holds an annual award banquet. This particular year the party
was being held at his family’s restaurant (Kilroy’s).
Since Ryan is the president he was the one presenting awards.
After all of the awards were given he called Rebecca to the
front of the crowd of 60 some people. She thought it was simply
to thank her for all of the time she had put into the club,
which is how he started off. As he added that he could not imagine
spending the rest of his life without her he dropped to one
knee and presented the ring that had, unknowingly to Rebecca,
been burning a hole in his pocket for weeks. She of course said
yes. As she turned around Rebecca realized her family and friends
had been hiding and were all there to celebrate with cake. A
cake, his mother bought that simply read “Finally.”
Tell
us what you envisioned your wedding day would be like:
The most important thing to Ryan and Rebecca was to have all
of their friends and family present to celebrate this special
day (which was a large crowd with Ryan’s large family.)
Decorations were to be clean, simple, and elegant. They knew
if all their friends and family were there the day would be
a blast no matter what. How could it not be with the diverse
mixture of rugby players, Irish Catholic bar owners, Italians
and cowboys?
Share
some of the details of your wedding.
The color scheme was deep blue and white. The day was filled
with electric blue delphinium and white calla lilies.
Favors were a small sachet with a scroll attached reading
“So often in our lives the odds are stacked against
us and the journey is as long as it is grueling for all those
around us. It is full of valleys and peaks, which at times
seem insurmountable. These favors are in memory of all those
who have or are fighting the uphill battle of cancer."
For each package of M&M’s that were purchased a
small donation was made to the Susan Koman Breast Foundation.
Also inside was a yellow Lance Armstrong bracelet, which many
guests were wearing by the end of the night. The Lance Armstrong
bracelets are a constant reminder and symbol that anything
in our lives can be overcome and that those battling cancer
today are not alone.” Inside guests found a tin of pink,
white, and blue M&Ms some inscribed with the bride and
grooms initials and others simply stating “Thank You!”
