Tiffany Mattingly and Christopher Richards both love autumn, so it was only natural for them to plan their wedding around the colors and themes of fall.

For their ceremony, they chose the gorgeous rose garden at Greenwell State Park in Hollywood. The roses were afire in red, enjoying their last hurrah before the chill of winter. As guests arrived for the late-afternoon ceremony, the sun started to show from behind the clouds and a soft breeze blew in from the Patuxent River.

The lawn in front of the rose garden was set up with rows of white chairs, and the arch of the garden was decorated with white tulle. To one side, musicians performed love songs and hymns while the groomsmen seated the guests. The gravel path out of the rose garden is long, and the opposite end had been decorated by a white arch. As the ceremony was about to begin, two young boys rolled out a white aisle runner.

Tiffany's five bridesmaids wore matching two-piece burgundy dresses. The tops had spaghetti straps and draping on the bodice; they were paired with straight, floor-length skirts. The maid of honor, Tiffany's sister, wore a sleeved harvest gold dress with straight skirt. Each attendant carried a bouquet of Gerber daisies, roses and orchids.

Christopher's niece, the flower girl, wore an adorable dress that was the same color as the bridemaids' gowns. Hers had puffy sleeves, and she carried a dainty pomander that was decorated with white ribbons and bows.

The bridesmaids were escorted down the aisle by groomsmen wearing Tommy Hilfiger tuxedos. The groomsmen wore burgundy vests and ties; the best man's vest and tie were gold. Christopher wore a similar tuxedo, but with a black vest and tie. The ringbearers were adorable in their little tuxedos.

As the "Wedding March" began, the guests stood for Tiffany as she walked down the aisle on her father's arm. Smiling the whole way, she wore a beautiful strapless gown with long train. The gown had beaded detailing on the bodice, train and hem. The back of the dress was pleated, with the two sides opening to show the train. A waist-length veil covered her face and hung down her back. She wore her dark hair up with a tiara.

The Rev. Phil Ayers, pastor of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, performed the ceremony, which included readings and performances by the soloists.

Rev. Ayers noted that the weather that had threatened to move the ceremony inside. "The sun came out when you arrived here, and it's still out," he said. "This beautiful setting is all yours as you begin your life together."

He also said Tiffany and Christopher had made a wise choice in selecting Greenwell State Park, with its historic manor house and gardens, for their ceremony. "This place represents time," he said. "It has seen many, many things over the years. It has seen crises. It has seen celebrations, and it has endured.

"What a beautiful site to begin a marriage."

After the ceremony, Tiffany and Christopher celebrated with their guests at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Hall. The lobby of the hall was set up by Tiffany: a display of hay bales, corn stalks, pumpkins and mums was accented by photographs of the couple from childhood to the present.

To one side of the lobby, she had set up a table with three picture albums for guests to thumb through: one of herself, one of Christopher, and one of the two of them. The albums were surrounded by pictures of her and Christopher, from high school proms to more recent studio sittings.

Inside the hall, the round tables were decorated with mums and pumpkins. Some tables had burgundy runners while others had gold runners. All included a variety of favors: pumpkin- and leaf-shaped cookie cutters (with a spice cookie recipe), mini chocolates in tulle bags and magnets personalized with Tiffany and Christopher's names and wedding date.

The head table was set up on two levels, the bottom for the bridesmaids and groomsmen and the top for the couple and their honor attendants. These tables were decorated in burgundy tulle and orange candle holders. A smaller table bearing a unity candle stood in front of the head tables.

At the other end of the dance floor, decorators That Special Touch had set up a bridge that was flanked by trees, pumpkins and leaves. The décor of the whole room gave you the feeling of a harvest-time meal on a crisp fall day.

Tiffany and Christopher's cake was made by Isabel Williams of That Special Touch. It was a three-layer cake covered in smooth white icing and accented with fondant leaves. The cake had both chocolate and vanilla layers.

The couple honeymooned in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
