What advice would you give to the bride-to-be that is planning her wedding?

I would tell her to relax and enjoy planning her wedding. It is a very exciting time in your life. There are a lot of decisions to be made, but don't stress, just enjoy. To make things a lot less stressful for myself, I hired Mary Rahall, a Master Bridal Consultant. I hired her because she is the expert and she takes away the stress of planning a wedding. I highly recommend her.

Did you use SoMdWeddings.com or our magazine to help with your planning?

SoMdWeddings.com is Wonderful. I found most of my wedding service providers on there and I also got great advice and ideas. It is also nice to see other weddings that are featured on the site.

November 5, 2005

When you hear the story of how Karamie and Michael met, you can't help but believe in fate. It's not surprising to hear that they met at their place of employment but that they both moved to Southern Maryland from opposite sides of the United States - she from California and Michael from Louisiana. They started a new life here, are in love, and now getting married.

Like something you might see in the movies, their love story includes a romantic engagement story too. She flies home to California to visit family. While there, Michael shows up unexpectedly to propose - but not before visiting with Karamie's dad to ask his permission to marry Karamie. And here we are today celebrating their wedding day.

"I've always envisioned an average sized wedding," says Karamie. "Not too big, not too small. A beautiful celebration with my close friends and family. I've always seen myself in a beautiful white, long sleeve dress with a long train. I envisioned a beautiful church, nicely decorated with roses and lilies. The reception site will also be nicely decorated with dimmed lighting and good food and music. I want it to be a special day that Michael and I will never forget. We both want to be able to look back upon it and smile," she said.

As guests arrived for Karamie and Michael's wedding at Lexington Park Baptist Church the morning of November 5th, Michael seemed nervous and excited as he waited patiently for his cue to arrive at his place at the front of the church. Guests were ushered into the church just before Karamie arrived in a white Chrysler 300 limousine that had an "Almost Married" sign near the rear door. She had three bridesmaids with her dressed in beautiful lavender strapless gowns. They quickly ushered her into the back of the church for last minute preparations. Meanwhile, guests waited in the church and listened to classic wedding music on a cd that Karamie had prepared.

The pews of the church were lined with tulle, large white satin tulle bows, with pink carnations and purple statice flowers. Karamie and her bridesmaids carried bouquets with a variety of roses, lilies, stock and other assorted flowers in lavender, pinks, blue, and ivory. Michael and his groomsmen wore black tuxedos with ivory rose boutonnieres.

Karamie and Michael were married at 10:30 in the morning by Pastor Mark Garrett. "But now remains faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love."

Karamie and Michael's reception took place at the J.T. Daugherty Conference Center in Lexington Park, just minutes from the Lexington Park Baptist Church. It is obvious why Karamie and Michael chose the J.T. Daugherty Center after hearing what she envisioned for this special day. The facility is somewhat deceiving on the exterior with a reference to "Conference Center" in its name anyone would be pleasantly surprised once they stepped inside. The facility is very elegant with its darkwood accents and very tasteful decor. The ballroom where Karamie and Michael's reception is being held has gorgeous maroon patterned carpeting, a built in mahogany bar and ficus trees around the perimeter of the room. Each of the round tables has a beautiful floral and candle centerpiece.

It's obvious that Karamie enjoyed planning her wedding. You can tell by all of the small details she incorporated into her wedding. For favors and accessories, Karamie took the time to shop at several websites online (including Ebay and Oriental Trading) and at local craft store Michaels. She gave three types of favors to guests: Personalized Hershey's nuggets, Pillow favor boxes containing mints, and spoons with hershey's kisses wrapped in tulle and ribbon with favor tags that read "A spoon full of kisses from the Mr. and Mrs."

The menu for the reception includes chicken parmesan, roasted pork loin, mashed potatoes, green beans, caesar salad and rolls with whipped butter.

The couple has also planned a champagne toast with their guests. The three tiered wedding cake is a white cake with cream cheese filling and is decorated with white frosting with pink, blue and lilac roses and includes a fountain.

Karamie and Michael are planning to take their honeymoon after Michael's schooling in July with a cruise to the Carribean.

Congratulations Karamie and Michael!
