I arrived at the Hughesville Baptist
Church off of Leonardtown Road shortly after 2:00 p.m. to see
if I could catch a glimpse of the bride and groom prior to the
ceremony. The groom's attendants were gathered in the foyer
of the church along with family members and friends.
I met Lindsey's parents who
were busy with last minute preparations which included keeping
an eye on Jason and Lindsey's daughter, Lacie who was watching
all the commotion. When asked if the bride and groom were
on the premises, Lindsey's mom said that Lindsey still hadn't
arrived and jokingly said that Jason was "threatened
with bodily harm" if he wandered into the area of the
church where Lindsey was to arrive.
The church pews were decorated
with white ribbon and the aisle lined with five foot tall
candle holders topped with hurricane glass candle toppers.
There were beautiful flower arrangements on the altar and
you could hear the music of pianist Julie Bivens while Michael
Wyant sang. The groom's selection of music during the seating
included a classic song, "Always and Forever" as
well as a present day country song "Keeper of the Stars".
Guests began to arrive and
were quickly seated by the groomsmen who were dressed in black
tuxedos with platinum vests. Each wore single lavender roses
while Jason wore two white roses as a boutonniere. The mothers
were seated while "Ave Maria" played and the bridesmaids
quickly lined up in position to walk down the aisle. Lindsey
stayed back in the bride's room while Jason moved into place
at the altar.
Lindsey had 5 bridesmaids and
a maid of honor. Each of the bridesmaids wore gowns in pink
mist with spaghetti straps and matching wraps. The maid of honor
wore the same gown in lavendar. Each carried bouquets of stargazer
lillies, lavender stock, white crysanthymum, pink miniature
carnations, and baby's breath. Lindsey's gift to her bridal
attendants were a necklace and earring set made of silver sequins
and pearls, which they wore for the wedding.
Jason and Lindsey had a flower
girl and ring bearer that walked down the aisle.

Lindsey's Wedding Day
Vision
I
have always wanted a ceremony in the church. I
wanted to share this day with all of our relatives
and our friends. As long as the ones we loved
were there, nothing else really mattered. I am
really not one of those brides that have to have
everything perfect. As far as I am concerned everything
else is ‘icing on the cake’. I love
everything about fresh flowers. I have always
hoped to have beautiful flowers surrounding every
moment of such a joyous occasion. Roses and Lilies
are my favorite flowers and I wanted to incorporate
them both in the ceremony. I wanted my wedding
to take place in the summer when it would be sunny
and warm. I wanted the ceremony to be filled with
music that touches the heart. I wanted a romantic
setting for the reception that included dimmed
lights, candles, flowers, and champagne. The colors
would also be soft and romantic incorporated throughout.
One thing I have always prayed for my wedding
day was that I would feel beautiful. I want to
feel like a princess and be a princess. I just
wanted to enjoy the day that I would become a
wife and be able to share and create memories
with everyone I hold dear to my heart. |

Lindsey stood at the end of
the fifty foot aisle runner when the foyer doors were opened
and walked down the aisle with her father to the traditional
wedding march theme. She is wearing a white strapless gown
with lace and beaded pearl bodice that buttons up the back
of the dress.
The couple's daughter takes
center stage as she moves back and forth across the altar
from each of the grandmothers. Curiosity gets the best of
her when she sees Mommy and Daddy holding hands exchanging
vows and grabs hold of Jason's pant leg, extends her arms
up to see what's going on. You hear guests chuckling to themselves
as all eyes are on baby Lacie.
"Faith, hope and love...but
the greatest of these is love...clasping of hands, blending
of hearts, bonded by strength of love..." are the words
of the officiant at Hughesville Baptist Church.
Guests
help celebrate at the wedding reception held at the Mechanicsville
Moose Lodge and are treated to a feast of ham, turkey, seafood
salad, pasta salad, corn, and scalloped potatoes. The hall
is decorated beautifully with plants and palladian-style window
screens. Each table is decorated with lavendar colored napkins
with the couple's name and wedding date along with a bottle
of bubbles to be used as the couple leaves the reception.
Centerpieces are glass vases filled with water and floating
silk flowers.
The wedding cake is a beautiful
white froseted five layer cake decorated with stargazer lillies
and made with five flavors that included Gran Marnier and
banana.
The couple spent their honeymoon
on a cruise to the Carribean. |
