Advice from the Bride:

  • ENJOY YOURSELF. I have heard that advice from so many other brides and it is so true.
  • Just let everything go and do not stress. Your wedding will be perfect and if it is NOT only you will know.
  • Take time to stop and smell the roses because it goes by soooo fast.
  • Don’t waste time getting mad, or upset about something small. Just revel in the fact that all these people are here with you to share in YOUR special day.
  • Make your wedding your own and if no one has seen or heard of any of your ideas still pursue them.
  • Do not let anyone deter you from the event and the dream you have in your head and heart!

Did you use SoMdWeddings.com or our magazine to help with your planning?
Yes,SoMdWeddings.com was instrumental in all the phases in my planning. I used it on many occasions to get help from LOCAL vendors who knew the area and knew my particular venue. That was so helpful.

Tell us your love story:
Cordell and I met through a wife of Cordell’s friend. During our courtship, we about to break up when Cordell got into a terrible motorcycle accident which brought us closer, and the rest is history.

Tell us the story of how you got engaged:
We were in Cancun and Cordell formally proposed asking me would I spend the rest of my life with him. It was very romantic.

Tell us what you envisioned your wedding day would be like:

I envisioned a day where everyone would come together and just have FUN, I wanted my wedding to be colorful, unique and full of special touches that made it memorable.

Share some of the details of your wedding.

When I envisioned my wedding I wanted something different, I did not want to be ANY WEDDING, USA. I wanted to add some special touches that no one had seen or would not have expected.

I chose the color scheme fuschia and dark purple because that is not your typical wedding colors. The ceremony room was decorated with tall columns with ferns on the top – which was a theme that followed into the reception room. Chair covers were used in the ceremony room and in the reception room. Fuschia sashes were used with the chair coveres in the reception room. I used table runners that matched the fuschia sashes to stay with the color scheme.

We had several cupcake trees as centerpieces on some tables as well as some traditional floral centerpieces. Instead of a regular tier cake we used cupcakes on the cake table. We also had a chocolate fountain. Many of my guests commented they had never seen or been to an event with a chocolate fountain. We splurged on Exquisite Band who performed at the reception. They really kept the party moving!

What did you do for favors?
I used fuschia and purple organza bags and white tulle which were filled with chocolates. We also had magnets designed in our color scheme that had our names and wedding date imprinted on them.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Negril, Jamaica
