Angela's Wedding
Day Vision

A Cinderella wedding, with lots of candles and flowers.

September 13, 2003

Angela Bowers and Antonio Caniglia sought the romance of Cinderella for their wedding day. From the flowers carried by the bride and bridesmaids to the decorations at the reception hall, the couple achieved that by bringing the beauty of a summer garden indoors.

Angela and Antonio were married at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Waldorf on a warm late-summer evening. Pastor James Chance performed the ceremony. Antonio, his best man and four groomsmen were dressed in black tuxedos with black vests and Windsor ties. Each had a single yellow rose pinned to his lapel.

Angela's matron of honor and four bridesmaids wore floor-length pale yellow dresses with straight skirts. The halter-style tops tied around the neck, and the bodice of the dress was decorated with bead and sequin detailing. Each girl looked radiant in the color, which was accented by bouquets of white, perwinkle blue and yellow flowers. Angela's decorations and bouquets, done by ForEver Yours, were made of silk flowers so real that you stooped to smell the roses before you realized they were made of silk.

Escorted by her father, Angela was a vision in a gorgeous, detailed diamond white A-line dress. The top and pleated front were decorated by a pattern of elaborate flowers in sequins and beads. The cathedral-length train echoed the detailing of the front. Angela's blonde hair was covered by a waist-length veil. Her cascading bouquet coordinated with those of her bridesmaids -- she carried roses and calla lilies with accents of blue and yellow. Cermeony music included a violin soloist, accompanied by a pianist, playing Bach's "Air on a G String" and soloist Phil Ayer singing "Ave Maria." After the couple exchanged vows, they lit a unity candle to signify the joining of their lives and families.

To see the couple off, guests were handed mini bottles of bubbles shaped like wedding cakes.

Angela and Antonio celebrated with their friends and family at the Waldorf Jaycees Community Center. ForEver Yours had transformed the room from a banquet room into a garden party. The head table was decorated with lace and garlands of flowers in the couple's colors: periwinkle blue, pale yellow and white. Behind the head table was a heart-shaped arch made of flowers and columns of varying heights that had green ferns and other plants on top.

To enter the room, guests passed through an arch decorated with white twinkle lights, flowers and soft, white tulle. On each table were white linens, yellow napkins and a scattering of yellow and blue rose petals. Each place setting had a small, wrapped box filled with assorted candies that Angela assembled herself. Simple oil lamp centerpieces ringed by greenery added to the romance of the decorations.

The couple's cake looked almost too good to eat. The three-layer confection was covered in buttercream frosting with elegant blue scrollwork and calla lilies. Each tier was a different flavor: french vanilla, almond and spice. Candles and rose petals decorated the table.

Angela and Antonio relaxed on a seven-day Caribbean cruise for their honeymoon.
