We know, we know, the thought of bridal shower games makes you groan. We surfed the Internet and found these ideas - they can be as clean or naughty as you and your audience wishes!
Bizarre advice: Have guests write down a common question brides might ask about marriage and their advice on separate slips of paper. Mix up the questions, mix up the answers and draw at random. You'll get some wacky marriage tips from the mismatched questions and answers.
Charades: The classic party game works at a shower, whether you choose a wedding-related theme or not. This is great for couple's showers. You can even have the guests act out scenes as the bride and groom (be funny, not mean) and ask the couple to rate each for accuracy.
Collect clothespins: There are a couple of variations on this common shower game. For both, give each guest a clothespin when she comes in and tell her the rules. In one version, she loses a clothespin by getting caught saying the bride or groom's first name. In the second, she loses a clothespin by getting caught crossing her legs or ankles. The person who catches the offender gets to take a clothespin. The person with the most at the end of the party wins a prize.
Design the dress: Divide the guests into two teams and select two models (the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom are fun choices…). The bride gets to watch. Give each team toilet paper and tell them to design a dress for the bride. The bride gets to vote which she likes better. (Have the camera handy for this one!)
Fold-over poem: Tell your guests you're going to write a poem about the bride and groom. Start it with a sentence like, "Jane and Bill met in college." Pass the poem around, with each guest writing the next line and folding the paper so that only her new line shows before she passes it on. The end result will be hilarious!
Missing ingredient: Type up a few common recipes but leave out one ingredient. Give each guest a copy of all the recipes and have them write in the missing ingredients. Tally all of the correct answers, and give the winner a prize!
Purse raid: If you've been to many wedding showers, you've played this one. Before the shower, compile a list of common and wacky items someone might have in her purse. Read them one by one; the first person to produce the item wins a prize. Start conventional and get more untraditional in your list. To make the game last longer, read items throughout the day.
Trivia: You've probably played this one, too. Ask guests questions about the bride or about the couple and then award a prize to the person with the most correct answers.
Two truths and a lie: This is a common ice-breaker. Each person introduces herself and states two truths and one lie about herself. The rest of the group has to guess which is the lie.
Wedding night preview: Have one of the bridesmaids write down everything the bride says while she opens her gifts. Reread her comments, telling the group that it is a preview of what she'll say on her wedding night. Guests young and old love this one.
