“How can you go wrong with Sotterley?” That was the first statement from Lisa and Michael when we asked them about their Aug. 31, 2013, wedding at the historic plantation home in St. Mary’s County. Indeed, the plantation was the perfect place for the couple’s elegant rustic- and vintage-themed wedding on the grounds and in the barn of Sotterley Plantation.
Coordinator TreBella Events helped to carry out the look of their day with lace, burlap, distressed trinkets, and a sparkling chandelier. Guests also played lawn games cornhole and horseshoes.
Lisa and Michael also gave homage to their cultures — African-American, Irish, and German — by including cultural wedding traditions into their ceremony. They jumped the broom, had bagpipe music, and included the Celtic tradition of “tying the knot.” And honored roles were given to their children: Best Man and Maid of Honor.
