Mary and Scott were not about to let rain ruin the perfect wedding day they had plan. When the details of the forecast became clear in the days before their April 25, 2105, wedding, they made a mad dash to Target to buy every clear umbrella they could find. That was just the start of their unique wedding day. The couple chose readings from “The Velveteen Rabbit” and “Wild Awake” for their ceremony, and Mary carried a bouquet made of brooches rather than real flowers.
Mary told us exchanging vows in the pouring rain is a moment she will never forget. It was bone-chillingly cold, the rain was steady, and she was shaking from the cold. “I didn’t notice anything,” she told us. “It was just background and white noise. I’ve never felt more in the moment and happy in my life than making promises to become husband and wife.”
