Local wedding guide launches redesigned website, announces new partners in publication that has served local engaged couples since 2002

WALDORF, MD (Jan. 31, 2017) – Southern Maryland Weddings has spent almost 15 years making planning your local wedding easier.

Now, your favorite wedding resource is making changes to make planning your wedding better.

Two new partners will join the Southern Maryland Weddings family, Founder and CEO Kimberly Bean announced this week.

“I am ecstatic to welcome my son, Richard Bean, and his fiancée, Desh Kostanyan, to the leadership here at Southern Maryland Weddings,” Kimberly Bean said. “These two are young and creative, and they are helping to breathe new life into our publication.”

Richard Bean will serve as Vice President and Creative Director. He holds a BFA in Sound Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design and currently works as a user experience designer for IBM, where he designs mobile apps for companies in several sectors.

He said he is excited to be part of the family business and looks forward to adding his design skills at every level, from website to printed materials and beyond. “This business has been running for 15 years, and I want to be part of taking it to the next level,” Richard Bean said. “I’m currently in the demographic the Southern Maryland Weddings is trying to attract.

“My fiancée and I have been engaged since last summer, and I think that helps us understand what engaged couples are looking for.”

Desh will be Southern Maryland Wedding’s Sales and Marketing Director. She holds a degree in Marketing from California State University, Los Angeles, and a cosmetology license for hair and makeup. Currently, she works as a sales and treatment coordinator and office manager.

“I knew with Richard’s design ability and my sales skills, we could grow the business,” she said. “There is a lot to be excited about, and this is truly the perfect time for us to join Southern Maryland Weddings. I will get to share my own engagement with other brides – and see their special and magical moments as we grow together.”

Desh said she is looking forward to using her sales skills to connect with wedding service providers in Southern Maryland. “I want to keep the amazing relationships with vendors that Kimberly has developed over the past 15 years and build new ones,” she said.

Southern Maryland Weddings’ website, www.SoMdWeddings.com, will be redesigned to make it easier for brides to use. This new website will be mobile friendly so that engaged couples can more easily interact with Southern Maryland Weddings on their smartphones and tablets. Readers will also see updated email newsletters and branding on Southern Maryland Weddings’ social media.

The trio is also in the middle of planning a bridal show, called A Bridal Affair, and a Southern Maryland Dream Wedding Giveaway. The bridal show will take place on Sunday, Feb. 12, at Middleton Hall in Waldorf. At the show, five finalists will be chosen to move forward in the contest to win a dream wedding. Future plans include a Southern Maryland Weddings mobile app and a redesigned print edition that couples will be able to pick up at bridal shows and select wedding vendors in Southern Maryland.

“I am very excited about this reboot and the future of Southern Maryland Weddings,” Kimberly Bean said. “Richard and Desh are joining us at the just the right time. They are enthusiastic and talented, and they have big goals for Southern Maryland Weddings.

“Together, we’ll be able to offer more to local engaged couples and wedding service providers. I look forward to seeing where this chapter takes us!”
