Pins We Love: Creative Takes on Tradition

We love Pinterest – and we know you, do, too. Can you imagine planning your wedding without it?

When we pin, we’re always amazed at the creative ways couples are tweaking tradition at their wedding. We love these five clever ideas – and we think you will, too.

And while you’re at Pinterest, don’t forget to follow Southern Maryland Weddings!

Solid as a Rock

This beach wedding idea really could work at any theme wedding. Collect (or buy) rocks, and instead of a guest book, as your guests to sign the rocks and write messages on them. Permanent markets like Sharpies will work best. Store the signed rocks in a hurricane vase or other clear glass vessel, and keep them in a prominent place in your home. They’ll be a constant reminder of the support of your loved ones.

Take the Beach Home

Every time you go to the beach, home much sand and shells do you bring home? No judging – we’re collectors at the beach, too. If you’re marrying on or near the beach, this clever favor encourages guests to take a bit of the beach home, too. Give each guest an empty bottle (find cool ones at our sister store, BeachThemeWeddingShop.com) and ask them to put some sand from the beach in it. Offer bowls of small shells and pebbles for them to add in with the sand. Voila! You have a unique and personalized favor.

Super Special Flower Girls

How much fun is this idea? Instead of kid flower girls, ask your grandmothers to perform the task for you – if they’re willing and able. It will show family unity and delight everyone at your ceremony. We can’t think of anything sweeter than your grandmothers walking down the aisle together.

Boutonnieres for the Birds

Spice up the guys’ boutonnieres with a little unexpected texture: Feathers! A great alternative to flowers, feathers come in a variety of colors and can go great with a rustic or vintage theme.

A Growing Seating Chart

We love this idea for garden weddings: Use plant stakes or craft sticks as your seating chart. Write your guests’ names on the sticks and place them in flower pots with blooming flowers or plants in your wedding colors. Label each pot with the table number. Cute and organic!
