If you haven’t met your fiance’s parents yet — or he hasn’t met yours — it would be a good idea to do so before the wedding. You are joining families, after all, and weddings are a really bad time to make introductions. Make plans to visit one or both families as a couple, and keep these tips in mind: dress nicely, be yourself, but be on your best behavior. Bring a gift. Inquire about parents’ hobbies and interests but stay away from religion and politics, at least on the first meeting. Try not to be nervous: Parents just want to know their son or daughter is marrying someone who loves them; they don’t all have a lie detector in the back room. Need more advice? Find it here.
