   Gift ideas: For the bride

Exchanging gifts on your wedding day is not required, but many couples choose to give some token of their affection to their spouse-to-be. Here are some ideas for gifts for the bride:

  • Jewelry: It's nice to give the bride something she can wear on your wedding day. This is the perfect time to give her the family heirloom you've been wanting to give her. Some other classic items are a strand of pearls or earrings. Want something more personal? Give her a locket with pictures of you inside or a charm bracelet with charms related to your lives together to this point.

  • Pampering: A favorite cologne or decadent bath and body items will be appreciated by a nervous bride. You can also give her a gift certificate to a spa so she can pamper herself before the big day.

  • Good luck charm: Some grooms give their bride the "something blue" she will wear on her wedding day. According to the Victorian poem, the "something blue" symbolizes fidelity.

  • Outside the box: Some other gifts include favorite books and movies; gift certificates for restaurants, movies and spas; concert or show tickets; or an item to use on the honeymoon. You know your bride best -- give her something she'd like!

  • From the heart: If your budget doesn't allow for presents or you want to give your bride a keepsake, enlarge a photo of yourselves (especially if it's from your dating days!) and frame it. Or, take some quiet time and write her a love letter. It's guaranteed to become something she'll read often and treasure forever.
