Five 2014 Wedding Trends to Watch

Hot Color: Radiant Orchid

It’s the Pantone color of the year, so this shade of purple is one you’re going to want to watch. It’s such a bold color that you can pair it with nearly anything – Trebella Events of Southern Maryland suggested deep blue or mustard yellow on our blog recently. We think it would also be lovely paired with 2013’s hot color, mint green, or one of the soft shades of pink that are also hot for 2014.

Hot Theme: Rustic

The rustic theme has been popular for a couple of years now, and Pinterest is full of creative ideas for Mason jars, burlap, and natural elements. But, wedding experts say that this year, rustic is going to get a makeover. Some couples will move away from country and shabby chic styles into more of a vintage look and feel. It’s time to hit your local antique stores for cool décor finds! Other couples will add glam elements to their rustic wedding,  like a pop of sparkle in centerpieces or decorations.

Hot Cake Design: Texture

Sleek, smooth cakes have been classic for years, but in 2014, don’t be afraid to give your cake an upgrade with texture! Ruffles, pleats, and sugar flowers are giving today’s cakes texture and interest. Not ready to go so bold? Try an ombre cake – the color-fade scheme that has been popular in gowns and decorations is coming to cakes.

Hot Décor Design: Romance

Romance is back in 2014 in a big way, thanks in some part to the sweeping scenery of vintage movies like The Great Gatsby. Decorate with candles, lace, and soft colors like blush pink to create a romantic atmosphere. Throw a formal wedding complete with long trains, veils, tux tails, and gloves for a stylish celebration overflowing with romance.

Hot Flower: Peony

Soft and romantic, the peony is the perfect flower for your romantic wedding day. It comes in lots of colors, from soft pinks and yellows to white to bold fuchsia, fire red, and blood red. Pair with wedding favorites roses and hydrangeas for a gorgeous bouquet.
