Dear Readers,

This is the final week to purchase your tickets to "A Bridal Shower" next Sunday. You must purchase tickets in advance to reserve your space. Seats are selling quickly so don't miss your opportunity! The day's events have grown since we originally started the planning process. Once wedding service providers heard we were putting on this event, they have been volunteering their services and providing us with donations to give away as door prizes. We'll have local acoustic guitarist, Sam Grow, entertaining you during lunch. Funny - we're calling it lunch but you may not have room after indulging in the chocolate fountain and the candy buffet! (A few months ago, we did a feature on Candy Buffets at weddings and we've decided to put one together so you can see how easy it is to do yourself.) Plus, we'll have local Master Bridal Consultant, Mary Rahall, who is going to provide tips on how you can have a stress-free wedding day. Bring your wedding planning questions. Mary will be available to answer them. Don't forget - we've got some favor and decorating trends to share with you. Don't miss out on a fun "Bride's Day Out" event. Click here for more information!

This month in Wedding Trends we're discussing Wedding Seating Plans and Techniques. There are several good reasons why you should take the time to create a seating arrangement - both for you and your guests. Read more below in our article "Please be seated" further down in this newsletter.

Finally, with the goal of our upcoming event for Brides in mind (A Bride's Day Out), I want you to remember to take time for yourself to relax and regroup. Planning a wedding can be stressful if you let it - but there are several things you can do to make it go as smooth as possible. But it starts from within. Remember, this is one of the happiest days in your life. The most important part of the day is the commitment that you and your future spouse are making to one another when you decide to share your lives together. So don't get so bogged down by the details that you forget what is most important.

Happy Planning!

Sincerely,

Kimberly Bean

Please be seated - Tips for seating guests at your reception

Want your reception to run a little more smoothly? Then you'll want to create a seating plan. Your Guests will be thankful and you will help to ensure everyone has a wonderful time.

Once you have a final list of guests that will be in attendance, start developing your seating plan. Prepare a map of the Reception venue indicating the locations of the Head Table, Podium, Guest Tables, Cake Table, Receiving Table for Guest Book and Escort Cards, Gift Collection Table, Band Stand/DJ and Dance Floor. Your Caterer or Facility Manager will be able to provide guidance based on their past experiences as to how to best utilize the facility you have selected.

Traditionally, the Head Table is elevated and situated in a focal point in the room. The Bride and Groom are seated in the center with the Maid of Honor to the Groom’s left and the Best Man on the Bride’s right. The other attendants make up the balance of the table alternating male and female. Alternatively, some Bridal couples are choosing to sit by themselves at what is referred to as a “Sweetheart” table. This allows the attendants to be seated separately along with their respected significant others that may not be part of the Bridal Party. Another option is to have the Bride and Groom sit at the head table along with their parents. This can present some difficulties if there has been a divorce and hard feelings persist. Choose whatever arrangement seems to feel right in your situation.

To help create a friendly and comfortable atmosphere at each table, try to create groupings based on the following... Read More
