There’s only one person who might be more excited than the details of your wedding than you: Kristin Bowling.
Planning weddings and events is Bowling’s passion, and when you hire her to plan your wedding, you can count on her to get immersed in the details. “I get so much joy out of seeing the bride’s face the day of the wedding,” she said. “I love seeing it all come together.”
Bowling has been planning events for many years. Before her daughters were born almost four years ago, she worked for a law firm in Washington, DC. Part of her job involved planning the firm’s events and entertaining clients when they came to town.
Then, two friends of hers got engaged, and they had no interest in wedding planning, Bowling said. She jumped in to help them plan their day. “I always loved planning the big events that the firm would do,” she said. “It’s a passion for me. I do it because I love it.”
Bowling was also asked to help plan a photo shoot when Bliss in the Barn, a wedding venue in La Plata, opened. “From that photo shoot, there were brides who were interested [in my services],” she said. “It just took off from there.”
Now, Bowling is working as a wedding planner as Kristin Frazier Events. She is building her business so she can go full time when her children begin school.
Bowling offers a variety of planning services to her couples, from full services to partial and customized plans. Under the full-service plan, she said, she can plan the wedding from start to finish, including attending vendor meetings and helping couples choose vendors and other details.
Her partial plan includes assistance securing up to three vendors and attendance at some, but not all, meetings. Need more than a partial plan but less than a full plan? Bowling can customize a planning package for you based on the services and assistance you need.
Bowling also offers day-of planning services, which begin a month before the wedding and include help with seating charts and timelines.
Under any plan, Bowling likes to get to know her clients. “I like to know my brides before they go down the aisle,” she said. “I always like to check in. I’m not the planner who doesn’t check in until the contract begins.”
Bowling also offers hourly services to plan the rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, or other wedding-related events, and she sells invitations and accessories through Carlson Craft.
Couples can count on her to help them find the best of the best when it comes to local wedding service providers, she said. “I have developed relationships with vendors I trust and whose quality of work is going to be amazing,” Bowling said.
Bowling doesn’t do a wedding every weekend, preferring to limit her schedule to about two weddings a month. This allows her to focus on the couples who have hired her and to allow time for her family. Her dedication, she said, is what sets her apart from other planners.
“This is a passion for me,” she repeated. “I am honestly just doing it for the love of it.”
