Plan a great bachelor bash - without the trashiness
Scour the web for bachelor party ideas, and you'll come up with plenty of links for the old standby. There's no shortage of sites offering decadent nights out, strippers and other kinds of debauchery.
It's true that this is still one of the most popular types of bachelor parties. But what if you're planning a bachelor party for a groom-to-be who's not into the strip club scene? Look deeper on the web and tap into your creativity, and you'll find plenty of fun party ideas that will fit the groom's personality.
The true purpose of the bachelor party is for the guys to get together and celebrate the groom as he crosses a major life milestone. Build your party around the groom. What are his hobbies? If he's an outdoorsman, spend the day hiking, kayaking or playing paintball. Take advantage of all Southern Maryland has to offer with a day on the Chesapeake? Check out Lucky Strike Charters in Solomons to plan a day of fishing.
Many guys are also making a weekend of it. Go on a road trip - the destination is up to you. Go to Las Vegas, or if that's too far, Atlantic City or a local racetrack. Know someone with a timeshare or vacation home you could borrow? Add some drinks, movies, poker and your closest friends, and you have the makings for a guys' weekend in.
Outings are also becoming big bachelor party ideas. Get tickets to a game, concert or comedy show. Take a brewery tour or spend the day at Six Flags, a golf course or an indoor sports facility. Rent a limo and go on a bar crawl of D.C. taverns. Charter a boat and spend the day on the water.
If the groom is a giving kind of guy, spend the day putting in volunteer hours for his favorite cause or organization. Wrap up the night with dinner and drinks.
The possibilities are endless. Remember to have a designated driver, or in the case of a party on the water, designated boat captain. It's also good to plan the party for a week or more in advance of the wedding. The night before is never a good idea.
