Don’t let your perfect day be spoiled by a scam. Most vendors are honest businesspeople who sincerely want to make your wedding day special, but there are always bad apples in the bunch. Here are some simple ways to protect yourself:
- Do your homework. Check with the Better Business Bureau for complaints against vendors you’re considering.
- Ask for references from each vendor you consider hiring and actually call those people.
- Ask friends and family for recommendations. They can lead you to vendors they trust or steer you away from bad vendors.
- Get it in writing. Don’t put down any money without a signed contract. You can use the contract in court if the vendor doesn’t follow through on his or her side of the deal.
